PAIR (not-for-profit initiative of The University of Pretoria and Baird’s CMC) have secured funds to research how shareholders and stakeholders engage with the financial results of stock-exchange listed companies in South Africa.

The purpose of the study is to help improve the communication of financial results of stock exchange listed companies in a developing economy.

The research will seek to establish how stakeholders receive and wish to receive information about the companies in which they have a stake, what their comprehension level of financial statements is and how their understanding could be improved so that they are empowered to engage meaningfully with the management of these companies.

The study further aims to investigate how listed companies could make their financial communication more comprehensible and widely accessible to all South Africans with a stake in the shares of listed companies.
